Loneliness can be hard to spot — but knowing the signs can make a real difference.
This Loneliness Awareness Week, our Training & Development Manager, Sue Brown, shares 5 key signs that someone may be struggling with loneliness.
Here’s what to look out for:
- Withdrawal – avoiding events, cancelling plans, keeping to themselves even in group settings.
- Mood changes – increased sadness, irritability, anxiety, or low energy.
- Feeling invisible – expressing hopelessness or saying things like “What’s the point?”
- Over-communication – excessive calling or texting to feel connected.
- Neglecting self-care – changes in sleep, hygiene or general wellbeing.
Sometimes it’s the quietest signs that speak the loudest.
Let’s keep our eyes and hearts open.
