Bromley Health & Wellbeing Checks

Bluebird Care Bromley – Supporting Your Health and Independence at Home

At Bluebird Care Bromley, we know that staying fit and healthy is key to maintaining your independence and confidence at home. We also understand how important it is to spot any early signs of potential health changes, so you can get the right support quickly and stay well for longer.

That’s why we’re proud to offer Health and Wellbeing Checks right in your own home, giving you and your loved ones peace of mind and helping you stay in control of your health and wellbeing.

What Is a Wellbeing Check?

At Bluebird Care Bromley, our Wellbeing Checks are designed to help you stay healthy and independent at home. A senior member of our team will visit you with a special Wellbeing Kit — our signature blue box — to check that your vital signs are stable and everything looks as it should.

We use the NEWS2 (National Early Warning Score) system — the same NHS-recognised tool used by doctors, nurses, and paramedics across the UK. This gives confidence in our findings and ensures we can communicate effectively with your local healthcare professionals if any follow-up is needed.

If we spot any early warning signs that may need attention, we’ll let you know straight away and inform the relevant healthcare teams so you can get the right support quickly.

Vital Signs

What vital signs do we check?

Our fully trained team monitor several key health indicators, including:

Our fully trained team monitor several key health indicators, including:

Blood Pressure and Pulse Rate

A blood pressure test checks if your blood pressure is healthy, high, or low. Low blood pressure (hypotension) is usually not a problem, though it can cause dizziness and fainting. High blood pressure (hypertension) increases the risk of serious conditions like heart attacks and strokes if left untreated. A quick test, along with a pulse check, helps assess heart health and could save your life.

Temperature

A high temperature could indicate a fever or infection, while a low temperature might suggest other health concerns.

Breathing and oxygen levels

Pulse oximetry is a test to measure the level of oxygen in your blood. This is called your oxygen saturation level. Pulse oximetry can help to understand if you might have a lung condition. It can also be used to monitor an existing lung condition.

Alertness & General wellbeing

Changes in how awake or responsive someone is can be an early sign of illness, dehydration, or medication effects.

Disclaimer: it is important to note that our team who operate the equipment are not medical professionals and cannot interpret, intervene, or offer advice themselves. Readings from the implements contained with the “blue box” are relayed via Bluetooth to a central database via a tablet. Your NEWS2 score is then generated automatically. A reading above a certain level prompts a call to your GP, or possibly the emergency services. Whatever the concern, early detection and communication enables quicker assessment and treatment. The Health and Wellbeing Check is a free, optional service available exclusively to existing customers as part of their care plan. It is also offered during newly booked assessments for potential customers. Participation is entirely voluntary.
