Penny Meadows at Prested Hall – Round Two!
We were thrilled to welcome the Penny Meadow – Achieve Together group back for another brilliant Real Tennis session at Prested Real Tennis Club, proudly sponsored by Bluebird Care.
This time, the session was led by club pro Vaughan, who brought great energy, humour and encouragement to the group. He made sure everyone felt confident to join in, learn new skills, and most importantly — have fun.
And what a difference a month makes! The improvement from the last session was incredible — a real credit to everyone’s focus and enthusiasm. Real tennis isn’t an easy sport to pick up, and I think we may have found some future stars of the game!
Our Director Melvyn Plum even stepped onto the court himself for a serving challenge — aiming to land the ball in a bucket. It was all going well until one of the Penny Meadow crew cheekily shouted “Old Man!” mid-serve, giving everyone (including Melvyn) a good laugh!
Becky, our Registered Manager, also gave it a go — and absolutely thumped the ball. Safe to say you want to be wearing safety goggles when she is on court!
This initiative was inspired by Melvyn, a long-time real tennis player, and it’s now become a regular monthly event as part of our ongoing commitment to community inclusion, wellbeing, and access.
We’re already looking forward to the next one!
