Women in Business Network Kent's Second Annual Christmas Lunch Raises £2040 for CharityOn Thursday, December 5th, the Women in Business Network in Kent held its second annual Christmas Lunch, a spectacular event that brought together the business community to celebrate the season of giving and raise vital funds for six important charities. The event, hosted by the wonderful Katherine Vass, raised a total of £2040, which will be shared equally among the charities supported by the Network.

A Warm Welcome and Charity Presentations

The day started with a warm welcome and introductions by Katherine Vass, who made sure everyone felt comfortable and excited to learn about the incredible causes supported by this event. Each of the six charities – Kent MS Therapy Centre, POW Thanet (Power of Women), We Are Beams Charity, Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex, Pilgrims Hospices, and Alzheimer’s Society – had the opportunity to share their work and the positive impact they’re making in the Kent community. It was a powerful reminder of the difference these organisations are making in the lives of local people, and how crucial it is to support them.

Inspiring Words from Jo Wimble Groves

Following the presentations, guests enjoyed a delicious two-course lunch while listening to Jo Wimble Groves, Co-Founder of Active Digital and the author of the inspiring book Rise of the Girl. Jo shared her remarkable business journey and spoke passionately about the challenges and triumphs she’s faced as a woman in business. Her talk was both uplifting and motivating, leaving everyone in the room feeling energised and empowered.

An Afternoon of Generosity and Fun

The event’s highlight was undoubtedly the raffle, which featured over £4000 worth of prizes generously donated by local businesses. From luxury spa vouchers to dining experiences at some of Kent’s finest restaurants, to pottery classes and paddleboarding experiences, the prizes on offer were extraordinary. The star prize – an apartment in the Alps, donated by Wild Geese Leadership – was the ultimate show of generosity, and the raffle raised significant funds for the supported charities.

As Katherine Vass expressed in her closing remarks, “The event was incredible, and we are so lucky to have such a strong community of women in business here in Kent. The event would not be possible without the support of this community! Jo Wimble Groves was a fabulous speaker and greatly uplifting for us all! A special thank you to the sponsors, the raffle donations, and, of course, all those who attended and supported the raffle – this is a community effort to make the event so spectacular – a million thank you’s!”

A Proud Sponsor of a Wonderful Cause

Bluebird Care is proud to have supported this year’s Christmas Lunch as one of the sponsors, alongside Furley Page and Azets. It was a heartwarming event that demonstrated the power of women supporting women, the generosity of Kent’s business community, and the importance of coming together to help those in need. We are delighted to see the funds raised go towards such worthy causes and to have been part of this event that truly made a difference.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, and contributed in any way to make this event such a success.
