Supporting Alzheimer's Society
Bluebird Care Isle of Wight joining the Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s Society
We are proud to be teaming up again with Alzheimer’s Society to help more families get the vital support they need. By working together, we hope to raise another £50k by September and we’d absolutely love for you to get involved.
There are close to one million people in the UK living with dementia, and this number is expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040. So how can we help?
Last year, thanks to all your hard work, Bluebird Care managed to raise an incredible £67k together for our fundraising partners, the Alzheimer’s Society including Alzheimer Scotland. For 2025, we are proud to be teaming up again with Alzheimer’s Society to help more families get the vital support they need. By working together, we hope to raise another £50k by September and we’d absolutely love for you to get involved.
To give you an idea of the difference you could make, raising £200 could enable 32 people to access Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Support Line and get immediate support.
This September, our Bluebird Care Isle of Wight team proudly laced up our walking shoes and joined hundreds of local residents for the annual Alzheimer’s Society Walk for Dementia. The event, held along the island’s beautiful coastal paths, raised vital funds and awareness for people living with dementia and their families.
The day began with bright smiles, a sea of blue T-shirts, and a shared commitment to create a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. Our care assistants, office staff, and a few of the wonderful customers we support came together with friends and families to walk side by side. Each step was a reminder of the importance of compassionate care, early support, and ongoing research.
“Taking part in this walk means so much to us,” said Jon Murray-Walker, Director at Bluebird Care Isle of Wight. “Every day we see the impact dementia has on our customers and their loved ones. Supporting the Alzheimer’s Society allows us to give back and help fund the services that make a real difference.”
Throughout the route, walkers shared stories, offered encouragement, and paused to enjoy the stunning Isle of Wight scenery. It was a moving celebration of community spirit, proving that when we come together, small steps can create a powerful change.
Thanks to generous donations and sponsorships, the event raised essential funds to support Alzheimer’s Society research, helplines, and local initiatives. These resources provide guidance and comfort to those navigating a dementia diagnosis, ensuring they never feel alone.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined our team, donated, or cheered from the sidelines. Your support keeps hope alive and strengthens our shared mission: to help every person with dementia live well and with dignity.
