When looking for care for your loved ones, there’s always a debate whether to choose Home Care or a Care Home. Bluebird Care offers privacy, familiarity, personalisation and companionship. Things you don't get in a care home.

Why should I choose Home Care over a Care Home?

One word, personalisation. Care homes can be convenient, but they are not the better option. Home Care allows your loved ones to stay in their familar surroundings, with care that they choose for themselves, not following a routine, a schedule and eating food they don't like. When your loved one receives care, they deserve to choose how they live their life, in care homes, they don't get that choice.

Premium Home Care

When searching for care it's very important to put the needs of the person first, and you have to ask yourself, is a care home really the best option for my loved one? The answer is, probably not, although care homes provide valuable support, it just isn't the same as being in the comfort of your home, with your memories, your pet and even your partner. Below we explore the significant differences.

Home Care - The cost affective alternative>

Care Homes

Familiar Environment vs. New Surroundings

Allows individuals to remain in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by familiar possessions, routines, and memories.Require a move to a new environment, which can be unsettling, especially for those with dementia or cognitive conditions.

One-to-One Care vs. Shared Care

Provides dedicated, one-on-one support, ensuring personalised care tailored to the individual’s specific needs.Typically have staff attending to multiple residents, meaning care is shared and less personalised.

Independence vs. Structured Schedule

Offers more flexibility, allowing individuals to maintain their own routines, hobbies, and social life on their own schedule.Operate on a set schedule for meals, activities, and care, offering less personal freedom.

Continuity of Care vs. Multiple Carers

Ensures continuity by providing a consistent carer, building a strong, trusting relationship.Often involve multiple staff members caring for a resident, which can lead to less continuity in care.

Companionship vs. Social Interaction

Offers companionship with a dedicated carer but may involve less social interaction with peers.Provide more opportunities for socialising with other residents, though some individuals may prefer their privacy and personal space.

Cost of care

Can be more cost-effective for couples who wish to remain together, as they share the service.Charge per person, making it more expensive for couples, though it may be more economical for those requiring high levels of medical support.

We could not have wished for a nicer team of carers to look after my brother. They always treated him with the utmost care and respect. We even enjoyed lighter moments with them, which was just what myself and the rest of the family needed to help us through this really difficult time. Thank you all so much for the support you gave my brother and sister-in-law. It will always mean so much to me and I will remember the carers with fondness.

Premium Live-in Care for you

Live in care is a very cost-effective option for individuals with long term care requirements. For the similar price as a one bed within a care home you can receive a bespoke service, which not only caters to your healthcare needs but also your mental, social and emotional needs.
