Alzheimer’s Society Teaching Course
For years we have worked closely with customers, their families, community organisations and health professionals living with and dealing with dementia. At Bluebird Care Plymouth and South Hams we have realised the need to develop our training around dementia further.
In February our management team from our Plymouth, Torbay and Live-In care teams who support our care experts and our customers attended an interactive training course run by the Alzheimer’s society. In the UK alone it is estimated that 982,000 people are living with dementia, this number equates to 1 in 14 people over the age of 65. In 2023 Alzheimer’s and dementia were the leading causes of death in England and Wales. These numbers are currently set to rise and are a call to action.
Alzheimer's Society Train the Trainer is a three-year license that will enable our teams to deliver high quality training about dementia to our care experts. Alongside this teaching course the same team are working through the training course ‘Bridging the Dementia Divide’ devised by Derby University.
They are set to complete this training in March. With this combination of dementia focused training our team will have the knowledge and skills to ensure that our team of care experts can support your loved ones to live in the comfort of their own homes, safely and comfortably for as long as they can.
