We are proud to be one of the only Bluebird Care (UK) branches where a Director and our Registered Care Manager have completed their Tier 2 Oliver McGowan Training on Learning Disability and Autism. This means they are now qualified to train others in this vital program.
All our staff at Bluebird Care Rochdale have completed Tier 1 Oliver McGowan Training, reinforcing our commitment to providing safe, compassionate, and informed care.
For those unfamiliar, The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training was developed to ensure health and social care staff have the right skills and knowledge to provide safe, compassionate, and informed care to autistic people and individuals with learning disabilities.
Oliver McGowan tragically passed away after being given anti-psychotic medication despite clear warnings from both him and his parents about past severe reactions. His passing highlighted the urgent need for improved healthcare training in this area. Thanks to tireless campaigning by Oliver’s mum, Paula McGowan Obe this training is now mandatory to help improve care standards and prevent future tragedies.
