At Bluebird Care Rother & Hastings, we are proud to have been part of the Sussex Outreach Support initiative, working alongside organisations such as Victim Support, One You East Sussex, Citizens Advice, and East Sussex Police. Together, we visited local communities to raise awareness of the support available, particularly for those living in rural areas.
During the event, Sarah, who leads the Sussex Outreach Support, spoke with many local residents, including one lady who wanted to learn more about the various mental health organisations and groups in the area. One wonderful example is FAiR (Friends Altogether in Rother) a regular coffee morning held in Rye and Winchelsea for older members of the community.
These gatherings not only provide a social connection but also give people the chance to meet health and wellbeing professionals who can guide them to the right services.
The goal of Sussex Outreach is clear: to make it easier for people to find trusted support for their health, wellbeing, and day-to-day needs.
The Challenges in Rural Areas
We heard again and again about the difficulties faced by older members of the public in rural areas:
Struggling to get to hospital appointments without transport or support
Finding it difficult to follow or remember what consultants have said
Challenges with collecting medication due to distance and accessibility
These are everyday barriers that can leave people feeling isolated and anxious.
How Bluebird Care Can Help
That’s where Bluebird Care steps in. As well as providing high-quality home care, we can also:
Accompany customers to hospital or GP appointments, offering reassurance and support throughout
Help manage medication, making sure prescriptions are collected and taken correctly
Provide companionship and practical assistance that makes daily life easier
Our role is to be the extra support that families need, especially for those living in rural communities where services aren’t always easy to reach.
At the Sussex Outreach Support event, we were able to highlight how our team can make a genuine difference, not only by meeting care needs at home but by ensuring people can stay connected to the wider health and wellbeing services they rely on.
Looking Ahead
We will continue to be part of the Sussex Outreach Support visits across the county, working alongside fantastic partner organisations to make sure no one feels left behind.
If you or a loved one could benefit from professional, compassionate care in Rother, Hastings, Battle, Etchingham, or surrounding areas, our team is here to help.
