I have been a business owner for several decades, firstly as an Insurance Broker and now in the Home Care sector. I have always been interested in helping people and so this is an ideal opportunity for me. When doing some market research I quickly came across Bluebird Care as they have a large network of offices across the UK and I really liked their ethos and business culture. My aim at Bluebird Care South Lanarkshire is to build a strong team based upon a tried and tested franchise model. The office staff have regular team meetings and are there to help with the management, supervision and training of all our Carers. The ultimate goal is to give great quality care to our customers who are always at the centre of all that we do. We can offer Care and Support to adults at every stage of life – ranging from companionship all the way up to 24 hour “Live In” support Away from work I am part of the leadership team in a local church, enjoy walks in the country (and on the golf course) as well as spending time with family.

My background was in education and in that setting, I saw first hand, the difference that taking the time and effort to help someone else can make. So now at Bluebird Care I am part of a team that endeavours to do the same for our customers, enabling them to live safely at home. My role involves everything from the first voice many will hear when they call the office to being involved in our safe recruitment procedures and lots in between. The other main focus I have is a family that continues to grow up fast and I am happy to play my part with plenty of grandmother times. I also enjoy holidays abroad and being involved in a church, here in Hamilton.

I started my career in care after having my family. I started as a Care Assistant and am now the Registered Manager. I love being part of Bluebird Care and have benefited from the advice, training and support I receive from the experts within the wider organisation. It is a privilege to be able to work with families, and as part of multi-disciplinary teams, supporting customers to stay in their own homes and helping to increase their quality of life.

I worked in a number of customer service roles before settling into my career in care. I split my time between working for Bluebird Care, volunteering at a small Christian school and being mum to my five children. My role at Bluebird is varied, which makes it really interesting. I often get to meet customers at the beginning of their relationship with Bluebird Care and it is just lovely to be involved in introducing them to carers and seeing people’s lives enriched by the support we are able to provide.

I grew up in Zimbabwe and still have family there, whom I miss very much, but I also have family in the west of Scotland and, despite the weather, do like living here. I first worked in finance for about 7 years before commencing a career in care, working in Edinburgh, when my children were young. I also worked for a short time in England before joining Bluebird Care as a Care Assistant and now Supervisor. It is a challenging role but rewarding to see that we can make a difference in the lives of our customers and their families. I have the best of both worlds being part of the office team but regularly being out and about meeting customers and carers.

My background is in IT, but I moved from that to spend 6 years in Indonesia being involved in teaching and curriculum development. Upon returning to Scotland in 2009 I continued to develop my career, starting with Bluebird Care in 2014. My current role involves planning care visits to ensure that staff can fulfil their responsibilities in a timely manner, whilst ensuring all our customers receive the level of care agreed upon. It can be a delicate balancing act, and often involves having to make a quick response to issues and changes, but that makes for an interesting working life!

My early career was spent in banking after which I changed and became a quality auditor for twenty-two years. This involved monitoring companies’ internal processes to ensure they could deliver for their clients, and that they continually sought to improve their effectiveness. Now at Bluebird Care I am able to use that experience to ensure our internal processes are effective and also as efficient as they can be. It is lovely working with a team whose focus is on making it possible for our customers to stay in their own homes and playing a small part in this, within the office.

I have a strong foundation in helping others through various experiences, such as contributing to the local community through my church and helping out at a summer camp for 8-11 year old children. These activities have equipped me with such skills as empathy, patience and kindness as well as good organisational abilities which are the type of skills required for my role at Bluebird Care. Although I have just started my professional career, I have been able to apply what I have learnt through volunteering and hope to build upon this as I develop in this role.

Robyn Timmins, Assistant Office Administrator

I’ve spent six years in higher education studying Health and Social Care, including a placement at a care home, which gave me valuable, hands-on experience in the field. I’ve also worked in customer service, where I gained experience in time management and multitasking, which I now use to keep things organized and efficient. As an Administrator at Bluebird Care, I put these skills to work every day, supporting my team and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time at my local church, with family and friends, and staying active, all of which help me stay motivated and balanced.
