Case Study: Audrey Smith - A journey to recovery and joy
At the end of 2024, our valued customer, Audrey Smith, experienced a serious decline in her health and was admitted to the hospital. During this challenging time, she lost her mobility and was extremely unwell. Her dedicated Live-in Care Expert visited her in the hospital every day for three weeks, providing continuous support with her daily needs and ensuring a familiar, comforting presence, especially during the Christmas period.
After three difficult weeks, Audrey thankfully recovered enough to be discharged. She expressed a strong desire to return home under the care of her trusted Live-in Care Expert, a wish that was fully supported. Although she remained bedbound initially, being back in her surroundings marked the beginning of her recovery journey.
Over the following five months, the Live-in Care team collaborated closely with Community Occupational Therapists to improve Audrey’s sitting balance. Thanks to their combined efforts and Audrey’s determination, she is now able to sit in her specially designed chair, where she enjoys watching her favourite TV shows, sipping tea, and indulging in a slice of cake.
Audrey’s radiant smile and laughter have returned, and she now celebrates life with a nightly gin and tonic. Audrey truly is living the dream.
