North Wilts Bowling Club: Dementia Care Training in Action
What an inspiring afternoon at North Wilts Bowling Club for our Dementia Awareness session!
As hosts, it was wonderful to welcome members of the community and see their engagement and curiosity throughout the interactive session. The event offered a perfect mix of practical learning, discussion, and community connection, and highlighted the importance of understanding dementia in everyday life.

Dementia Care Training in Action – Local Insights
Beyond the presentation, the session gave us the chance to share insights into dementia care, discuss challenges, and answer questions from attendees, helping to spark meaningful conversations about empathy and support in the community.
Carla, our Dementia Care Training expert, shared valuable, practical insights on understanding dementia. The talk included how to recognise the signs, as well as information on how to care for people with empathy and confidence. Through real-life examples and role play, she brought the topic to life in a way everyone could connect with.
Dr. Nigel Gough and Dr. James Gough added their medical expertise, answering questions and giving a deeper understanding of dementia from a clinical perspective.
Debi O’Brien shared her personal reflections from the Dementia Immersive Bus Experience, highlighting the emotional impact and importance of truly understanding life with dementia.
It was a day full of insight, connection, and practical guidance, leaving everyone better equipped to support people with dementia
A huge thank you to North Wilts Bowling Club for hosting us so warmly and helping make this a successful event.
